Before Abraham Was I Am: Eternal Life’s Promise

Revelation 22:1-6: Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign with him for ever and ever.As I reflect on our SET Ministry community, I am reminded of the diverse backgrounds and ages that make up our family. Recently, I met with a young couple who are expecting their first child, and their excitement to introduce their child to the gospel was palpable. It made me think about the promise of eternal life that we have in Christ. Before Abraham was, I Am – this is the declaration of Jesus in John 8:58, emphasizing His existence before time began. This truth is beautifully echoed in Revelation 22:1-6, where we see the river of life flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. This river represents the living water that quenches our thirst and satisfies our souls. In the original context, this passage was written to encourage believers in the midst of persecution and hardship. Yet, its message transcends time and circumstances, speaking to the very essence of our existence. You and I are not just living for today, but for eternity. We are not just citizens of this world, but of a kingdom that is to come. As we navigate the challenges of life, let us hold fast to this promise. We will see His face, and His name will be on our foreheads. We will reign with Him for ever and ever. Psalm 46:1-11 reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. In Him, we find stability and peace that surpasses understanding. In this season of life, I ask you, what is your heart’s cry? Are you seeking the living water that only Christ can provide? Take a moment to reflect on your relationship with God. Are you holding onto the promise of eternal life, or have you grown complacent in your faith? As you seek the Lord, remember that He is our rock, our refuge, and our strength. Psalm 46:1-11: God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.Reflection Question: What is the living water that only Christ can provide, and are you drinking from it daily?Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, seeking the living water that only You can provide. Help us to hold fast to the promise of eternal life, and to drink from the river of life that flows from Your throne. May our hearts be filled with the peace and stability that comes from knowing You as our rock, our refuge, and our strength.Declaration: Today I declare that I am an heir of eternal life, living in the shadow of the Lamb who is the light of the world.
